Spatial impacts of COVID-19 in Playa del Carmen: tourism outsourcing and labor exploitation

The present work seeks, from the Marxist critique of the theory of uneven geographical development, to reflect on the impacts of Covid-19 in the field of production and reproduction of daily life in Playa del Carmen to illustrate the reshaping logic of the geographical space of capitalism, from the labor exploitation of a traditional internationally recognized sun-and-beach destination, and one of the destinations in Mexico that has experienced the highest urban growth in the last 20 years due to excessive urban expansion due to the articulation of the neoliberal capital with tourism outsourcing and labor flexibilization.Downloads
