Architecture as an image of the world: obstacles, possibilities, prospects
Keywords:
Contemporary architecture, symbol, icon, limit.Abstract
This paper explores the architecture understood as an image of the world –that is, as an image of a socioeconomic hegemonic model–, with the purpose of exploring the possibilities that this model owns when it comes to articulating the individual’s experiences and conceptions. In opposition to a nostalgic architecture, we propose –for better or worse– a look towards the future in relation with the ability of the architecture to incorporate new forms, typologies and materials. Some of the authors that we will use to discuss our ideas are Eugenio Trías, Mark Fisher, Theodor Adorno or Walter Benjamin, and from a architectonic perspective Juhani Pallasmaa, Josep Maria Martorell or Ignasi Solà-Morales.Downloads
