The main objective of the GMA is: to promote study of the literary works of George Moore in Ireland and in the wider world.

The subsidiary objectives of the association are:

   1. to establish a strong link between the writer, his writings and his birthplace in Co. Mayo   with a view to promoting associated literary tourism

   2. to organise scholarly conferences promoting new research on George Moore, cognate authors and the literature of his time and place

   3. to pursue publication of works by and about Moore

   4. to encourage theatrical and cinematic productions related to work by George Moore
