Registration – July 1, 2025 to September 5, 2025
Objetives:
The potential for microalgae applications to improve the quality of life is very high in the areas of energy, treatment of liquid and gaseous effluents, promotion of well-being and health, and animal and human nutrition. The objective of the course is to provide basic knowledge and the necessary skills, as well as analytical and instrumental procedures for the design, operation and control of photobioreactors for the growth of microalgae and harvesting and processing biomass. The main objective is to explain clearly and simply:
- The knowledge and skills necessary to grow microalgae and cyanobacteria.
- Fundamentals to design, configure, operate and control photobioreactors (PBR).
- The essentials of fluid dynamics and mass transfer within PBRs.
- Units of main operations to harvest biomass.
Evaluation
- 40% final written exam on the content taught in theory and practical classes.
- 40% corresponding to reports on laboratory practices and the visit to be carried out.
- 20% attendance and active participation in theory and practical classes.
.
