We are a team of four Full Professors in the Control Engineering area who love education. For us, for us, education is one of the fundamental pillars of our society.
José Luis Guzmán Sánchez was born in Almería, Spain, March 20, 1979. He received the Computer Science Engineering degree and the European Ph.D. degree (extraordinary doctorate award) from the University of Almería, Spain, in 2002 and 2006, respectively. He started working at the University of Almería in 2001 with a scholarship and since then he has been linked to the University. Currently, he is Full Professor of automatic control and system engineering with the University of Almería, where he also belongs to the Automatics, Robotics and Mechatronics research group. His research interests are focused on the fields of MPC techniques, PID control, feedforward control, and robust control with applications to agricultural processes, solar plants, and biotechnology. Moreover, he is very active in research on teaching/learning methodologies/technologies on control education.

Ramon Costa-Castelló was born in Lleida, Catalunya, SPAIN in 1970, obtained the master degree in computer science in 1993 from the Facultat d’Informàtica de Barcelona (FIB) from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), in 2001 he obtained the PhD degree in computer science from the Advanced Automation and Robotics (AAR) program from the Cibernetics Institute (Institut de Cibernètica, IC) at UPC. Currently, he is an Associate Professor at the Automatic Control department (Department of Enginyeria de Sistemes Automàtica i Informàtica Industrial, ESAII) from UPC and the Institute de Robòtica i Informàtica Industrial, a Joint Research Center of the Spanish Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) and UPC. His research is mainly focused on analysis and development of energy management systems (automotive and stationary applications), especially those based on hydrogen, and the development of digital control techniques for tracking/rejection periodic signals (repetitive control, resonant control), with application to power electronic converters (active filters, rectifiers) and mechatronic plants. In parallel with this activity he works on the development of virtual/remote laboratories and interactive applications applied to teaching of automatic control.

Manuel Berenguel received the industrial engineering degree and PhD degree (extraordinary doctorate award) from the University of Seville, Spain. He is Full Professor of automatic control and systems engineering with the University of Almería (UAL), Spain. He is responsible for the Automatic Control, Robotics and Mechatronics research group at the UAL (arm.ual.es). Since May 2019 he is Honorary Visiting Professor at the University of Brescia (Italy). His research interests include predictive and hierarchical control, with applications to solar energy systems, agriculture, and biotechnology. Another important line of research is on education in engineering, through the development of new paradigms based on interactivity and the development of interactive tools, virtual and remote laboratories and electronic books.

Sebastián Dormido Bencomo received the B.S. degree in Physics from Complutense University of Madrid, Spain, in 1968, the Ph.D. degree in Physics from the University of the Basque Country, Bilbao, Spain, in 1971. In 1981, he was appointed Professor of Control Engineering at the
National Distance Education University (UNED), Madrid, where he is now emeritus professor. His research interests are Computer Control, Event Based Control and Control Education with emphasis on Remote and Virtual
labs. In 2007 and 2013 he received a Doctor Honorary Degree from the Universities of Huelva and Almería respectively. In 2008 the National Automatic Control prize from Spanish Automatic Control Committee (CEA).
From 2014-2016 has been Chair of the IFAC Technical Committee on Control Education (TC9.4) and from 2015-2016 Chair of the IEEE CSS Technical Committee on Control Education. In 2019 received the IFAC
Control Education Life Time Achievement Award.
