The experimental facility located in the IFAPA Center “La Mojonera” (Almería, Spain) consists in a prototype greenhouse with an exchangeable cover (plastic-mesh) of 1000 m2 of surface area, E-W oriented and provided with aerial tubes for hot water distribution (45-50 ºC) and air CO2 enrichment. Climatic parameters (radiation, temperature, humidity and CO2 concentration) are continuously monitored inside the greenhouse. The greenhouse is equipped for fertirrigation in soilless crop.
For the greenhouse heating system there is a hybrid installation integrated by a solar thermal field (100 m2) and a biomass boiler (225 kW). A biomass silo system (12 T) is conected to the boiler. To store the thermal energy produced, there is a main storage tank (7 m³) and an inertial tank (2 m3).
Linked to the boiler, an equipment is available for the fixation, storage and subsequent use in the greenhouse of the CO2 generated during combustion. A meteorological station is available outside the greenhouse, in which air temperature, relative humidity, solar, rain detector, wind direction, and velocity measurements are taken.
